I've finished Blood Rites and I am officially lableing this one as my favorite of the Dresden Files series. Why? Well...I can't tell you because that would spoil pretty much the entire plot so far. Just know that it's awesome. I would also like to point out the color ways in which Harry likes to cuss. Not curse, cuz ya know...with a wizard that's something else entirely. Other than general terms, he likes to use the phrase "Hell's bells" and "Stars and stones." Well, something big happened and he said this:
"Hell's holy stars and freaking stones shit bells."- Blood Rites pg.346
So special.
In other news...Sammy now has his cone off and stitches out. He's been goin nuts ever since XD I took some pics of his new found freedom, but I don't feel like uploading them right this minute, so ya'll will have to wait.

Joblessness cheesecake for me!
Umm...inside joke. Anyway, I went to the Dillard's (I don't care about hiding their name anymore XD) again for an interview. This time I made it through the application without the computer dieing on me, but I have yet to have an interview. Why? Well...I'm being schlepped off to the other departments. The lady I talked to today said that their floor manager wasn't there (even though I knew that he was, that's why I was there. Plus I could hear him from his office) and then told me that I couldn't work in Women's because I'd fail. Yes, she used the word fail. So she set me up an appointment for Wednesday with some other woman...and I just kind of nodded. I'm sure she noticed that I wasn't writing any of it down. She also told me, for all intents and purposes, that I needed to dress better or I wouldn't make it passed saying 'hello.' *looks down* These are the nicest clothes that I have. I can't get anything better for a while, at least not before 1pm on Wednesday. Soooooo...I'm going to call tomorrow and cancel the appointment...maybe tell them another, closer opportunity came up. The stress (and general shame that I felt for how I dress and live), isn't worth it. Neither is the gas- not when I'm not being paid, anyway.
Nana wants me to file for unemployment...momma has brought it up as well. I dunno how to feel about this.
Anyway...yah. I like animal crackers.

Wearing Suits vs. Stuffing Bears
Friday I went to Possible Employer's to fill out the in-store application. I ended up going alone because Nana cancelled her doctor's appointment and rescheduled for Monday. I was kind of angry because I like having everything planned out and that totally messed everything up. Plus, no one bothered to wake me up, even though I had asked. Remember what my mom says- things happen for a reason.
I went to the store and into the costomer services place. I had to wait while the nice lady went to check on the system- apparently it had gone down once that day, but luckily it was working fine now. So I sat down and went about filling it out. I go to the questionair bit and was more than half way through (95 questions, wtf?), and it CRASHED. I don't just mean the computer I was on. No. Their WHOLE SYSTEM went down, time-clocks and all. *sighs* She told me to come back on Monday- that's when the floor manager would be back anyway. Haha, and I'll be in Asheville tomorrow anyway XD
Well, I figured since I was in the mall, I'd wander about for a bit. I went to the bookstore, but they didn't have ANY of the Dresden Files. 'Cept White Knight, but I'm not that far yet. I went back downstairs and waddled about until I saw that the new Build A Bear Workshop is open :D I was excited because I've never actually been in one before. So I went in while I was on the phone with my mom, telling her about the computer problems. She told me to see if BABW was hiring, half joking. After I hung up, I asked for an application lol. They were hiring! So I filled that out, which took well over an hour from having to call everyone and their mom for references. I want you to know that the only two people that I could get a hold of have only known me for four years...the minimum for the app was 5. Friends lieing for you = priceless. I turned it in to the very-hot-and-way-out-of-my-league-and-not-my-type-but-still-friggin-hot-guy at the counter and made my way out of the mall.
After that I ploddled over to the Books-A-Mil and bought Blood Rites cuz ya know...Harry Dresden. Then I went over to the B and N because the Books-A-Mil didn't have Seeing Redd. I got my copy of that along with part of Aarin's birthday present.
Let me tell you right now, the book was AWESOME. I can't wait until the third one comes out next month- Though I'm pretty sure that's the last one. Oh! There's still the graphic novel to read (I can only order it from the author's site though T_T), and then there's the art book and they're making all of the books (and the comic) into either one movie or a trilogy, I'm not sure. God I want to see Hatter's fighting scenes, YOU HAVE NO IDEA! This is what he looks like in the comic. Isn't the artwork interesting? Go here and checkout the official site for the series. Seriously, the pictures are perdy in an odd sort of way. And there are trailers for the books XD Which I find amusing.

More updates FTW
I think my addiction to twitter has led to me continuously making updates.
Anyway...
So ya know how the door's falling off the van? Well, it's gotten considerably worse...I mean, I hear the hinge creaking with weight while I'm driveing- it's seriously about to just snap off. Well, Nana told me today that she found a replacement door at a junk yard about an hour or so away.
The door isn't the same color as our van.
Oh yah, the van is gettin' even more ghetto.
Hizzells yah.
Anyway...

Quick Update
So like...I got another call from Possible Employer asking me to set up an interview XD I was confused so I said I could do it next Saturday. Yah, I can be ruttin' retarded when I first wake up. I ended up calling back and ended up making the EXACT SAME PLAN as I did with the guy yesterday. BTW, today's call was from some woman who has like her own office and is in charge and whatnot. I dunno who the hell that guy was. Sooooo tomorrow I have to take Nana to the doctor, drop her off, then skeedattle over to the mall to fill out an app and go through my interview. I feel bad that I'll be leaving Sammy home alone T_T He still shakes if I so much as leave the room to put on pants...then of course since I have on pants, he thinks I'm leaving, so he sits on my foot and trembles.
He's such a drama puppy.

Fangirling post. LIVE WITH IT
So...I dunno if I ever actually reveiwed the Dresden Files books or not...but I should probably do something about that. I mean, I just finished book 5 XD after all.
So here ya go: These books are AMAZING. Ok, ok, I know, I've said that already- but I don't think I ever really explained why. Well, other than my undieing love for both Bob and Harry, anyway. First of all, the narration drives me into giggles. It's sort of similar to how I imagine Batman's inner voice being. Ya know, brooding and a little angsty, but full of jokes to keep him from going insane. C'mon, in this last book he started singing the theme song from Underdog while he was facing torture and death. While wearing a tux. I dunno, somehow that makes it about ten times funnier. Another reason why I ADORE these books is the plot :D I mean, yes, we get to read about awesome magic forces and generally Nevernever beasties getting their asses kicked. But it's more than that. The books are crime novels as well and definately carry that Matlock feel. And I love me some Matlock ya'll. Seriously though, the books are full of twists and turns. They aren't you're usual "OMG I HAD NO IDEA" kind either- at first you think you have it figured out, but then WHAM, something totally different happens. It isn't as strong in the first book, but it was Jim butcher's first novel (ever, I think), and he was just getting the feel for Harry as a character. I had the first one figured out, then the second and third books I got half of the plot figured. But in the fourth book...holy crap. I was totally off. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was able to see which Faerie court was behind it all way before Harry did, but I didn't know the how or why. I was totally thrown. It happened again with the fifth book. I had the buyer figured out pretty quick, but then, so did Harry. But I had a lot less than half of it figured out. And so did Harry...until the end XD He's special that way...in fact, he gets picked on by villians for being slow sometimes.
Another reason I'm in love with the series, is the description of magic. Much like Kim Harrison's books (which I need to get my hands on), the magic is much, much more than waving a stick and saying memorized words. Ok, well, there's a little of that, but he's mostly pointing his stick (blasting rod), and that's explained better. He goes into small descriptions of different forms of magic use like evocation, which he calls KABOOM magic, and thaumaturgy (sp?), which is what a lot of people think (though they aren't exactly correct) of as voodoo- there's some use of dolls and what not. He also uses summoning circles and potions. On top of this he describes how he uses his engery while trying to cast a spell or evocation. He also goes into explaining the use of words (and for those Earthsea fans out there, the use of Names), saying that they aren't preset words- mostly they are words that the wizard (or wizardess) uses for themselves (Harry likes using latin becuase it sounds cool), and sometimes they are just nonsense syllables to help them concentrate. I like this. I also love that he is able to seperate religion and magic. Kind of a "all Faiths give you Power, but not all Power comes from Faith" sort of thing. See? More reasons to love him.
Hmm..ya know...I may have said all of this before, I don't really remember XD
So in other (only very slightly) related news- Apparently Seeing Redd is already out. In fact, it's been out for a while and I didn't know lol. What's Seeing Redd you ask? Well, it's the sequal to The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor and it's another AWESOME book. I'm pretty sure you've all heard me talk about that one, so if you don't know about it, you can look it up. I still need to get my hands on the graphic novel Hatter M. as well. It's a spinoff.
Oh, and just as a side note- Christian McGrath has the prints of the covers he did for Jim Butcher for sale on his site. Click here to see an example. It's the cover from White Knight. I want all of the covers sooooooooooo badly T_T *weeps* They're $30 a piece though. *sighs* I still need a job lol.
So I think that's it for now. Oh wait! I almost forgot! I was poking about on Jim Butcher's site and found THIS. It's a short story about Harry Dresden. I'm not sure if this was written before the series or not, but my guess would be that it wasn't actualy written out until after maybe book one. Though, some of it seems like it was written, put aside, and then picked up again. I'm sure it was in his head before then, but you know how we writers can be ~_^ Anyway, it's a quick read and you don't have to be familiar with the series already to read it. If you poke around, you can also read the first few chapters of the books :D There's also this. It's just a really short snipit that will TOTALLY MAKE YOU LAUGH.
I promise.
So go check those out and leave lots of comments.

Various updates
There are lots of things for me to talk about, so I'm just going to ramble on and you can deal with it :D
So the most recent of events happened this morning. I made an appointment at the vet for Sammy cuz he has this weird...bubble...on his shoulders. So I cramed him into the van and we ploddled on over to Tnn. Some gross details later, we found out that it's just an absess...or something. The only way to get rid of it is surgery, and since he didn't eat anything this morning, now was just a good a time as any. So I left him there and made my way home, feeling weird that I left the house with a dog this morning and came back empty handed. I'm suppose to call them at 3pm to check on him...he doesn't get to come home until tomorrow though. And then he'll have to wear a cone for five days XD Yoda will laugh his ass off. Expect many pictures of the poor puppy with his cone head lol.
So this morning I actually checked my yahoo mail, and lo and behold I had an email from Kevin! I know, I was surprised too. It's been a year since I've talked to him. It wasn't actually just an email to me...it was to all of his contacts. He probably didn't even think I was still in there. It was an email asking for help with his newest site, and I offered to work in the forums. Haven't heard back though. Some part of me is hopeing that his heart skipped a beat and he coughed a little (cuz that's what happens when your heart beats irregularly), when he saw me sign up for his site. Not in a omg-I-miss-her-so-much kind of way, but a oh-crap-what-is-she-planning kind of way. I'm only a *little* bitter.
So the Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival was SUPER FUN. Despite the sunlight. There was lots of dancing, and I even brought out the poi briefly. This bit is going to be mostly pictures...so yah. I'm not going to post all of them, but you can just click on them to get to my gallery.
Other people took pictures of us too. The next two pictures have either me, or Emily (look for Pikachu :D) in the background. The last is a pic a guy snapped of us when we stopped to talk.

Interesting.
So umm...according to statcounter, most of the people who stumble onto this blog are searching for stuff about the chupacabre.
Weird. Cuz that's like...just one post about a comic I found once.
