Exciting news!

Ya know, I do like working at the Spa. It's a good job- if you don't have a lot of bills to pay. However, my last day there is Sunday.

Monday is my first day at the gas station. My first two days working there, I'll have 14 hours. I work at least three more days of the week after that. It'll be AWESOME.

I'll keep ya'll posted on how things go.

Merri Kurisumasu!

Soooo...for breakfast this morning, I had a bowl of cereal. Except there was barely an inch of milk in the carton and no clean spoons. You'd think I'd wash a spoon. Nope. I totally ate TWO bowls of cereal with a fork. And it worked by golly. My mood is much improved today- I woke up before my alarm and went into the living room to bounce on my mom who went back to sleep on the couch.

I gots stuff, and I will post pictures later. But for now I give you a list:

- Two water bottles
- Spongebob umbrella
- Earmuffs
- Purple satin sheets
- Monkey plushie that also works as speakers for MP3 players. It has shiney lights that are seizureriffic.
- Lotion, spray, and body wash from Bath and Body Works
- Cooking Mama for the DS :D

Merry Christmas?

So the family, me, and a whole bunch of my friends have decided that this year Christmas just doesn't feel like Christmas. Maybe it's because it's been a particularly stressful few months for the people I know. Maybe because it's unusually warm and there isn't any snow. Maybe it's because I've been in a [/wrists] mood for about a month and I dunno why. Who knows, really.

I hope this [insert holiday of your choice here] is better for ya'll. I look forward to presents, though :D And to those of you I'm getting gifts for...umm...it's going to be a little longer til I can get anything. I kind of still don't have enough money for bills. I can't even buy gas. Soooo it'll be more like...Valentines day when you get stuff...if I get a new job. Chances are, with everyone quiting, I'll be getting more hours at the spa. That's a good thing, I guess. I'm pretty sure, though, that one shouldn't feel anxious and afraid of going to work.

I'm gonna hush now that I've brought everyone down :D My job here is done. *scampers off*

Holiday Memory

Writer's Block from LJ: Share a Holiday memory.

One Christmas Eve when I was really little (maybe five years old?), I had a horrible case of Pink Eye. It seems like I got it a lot, but then I was generally sick a lot. For those of you who don't know- I have a REALLY REALLY BAD fear of things being near my eyes. This is funny seeing as I can actually poke (and move) my eyeball with my finger. Evenso, I have a phobia of being stabbed in the eye. So imagine my horror when I found out that Nana had to put a dropper near my eye. I didn't mind the actual liquid so much- that felt kind of neat- but I didn't trust her coming at me with the dropper itself. So there I was, in my jammies on the floor, sitting between Nana's feet while she held my head, and I started bawling my eyes out. I think Momma might have been trying to hold me too because at this point I was starting to fight back. Nothing seemed to work. So Nana, being the wise negotiator that she is, offered me the option of opening one of my presents early if I would sit still long enough, without screaming, for her to put drops in my eyes. Being the greedy bugger that I was, I went for the deal. I still cried, but at least I was still XD I still remember the present too. It was a white seal plushie and I still have it somewhere in my room.

After that, I was allowed to open a present every Christmas Eve. Until this year. I'm kind of refusing to do it simply because there isn't much under the tree and I like for Christmas morning to last as long as possible.

Writer's Block- Winter Memory

So on LJ they have these "Wrtier's Block" prompts every day. Today's was "Write a winter memory using all of the five senses." So I did this, though I didn't use a real memory, just kind of a winter scene....thing that I made up. Here ya go:

The cold air cut through my hooded sweater and poked at my bones as I walked down the sidewalk through town. I took in another breath and smiled softly at the scent of everyone's wood stoves burning at full capacity, watching the little puff of frost form as I exhaled. The sun had not quite gone down yet, but the ground had that eerie bright grey glow about it from the snow clouds above, and most of the people were already in their houses. It was the second day of the snow storm, and while not a lot of it had actually layed on our warm grounds, it was damn near impossible to go across the white mountains and into the next town for groceries. Now that our small stores had been ransacked of all their milk and bread, most people were content to sit in their living rooms. I, on the other hand, continued my walk. The only sound acompaning the "whoosh" of my long pantlegs dragging in the snow was the hush of frozen flakes landing on the newly salted road.

I hunched over with my hands in the front pocket of my hoodie as I crossed over the railroad tracks and kept an eye out for the evil chickens that lived on the camp ground. They didn't have enough sense to stay out of the cold weather, much like myself, however they wouldn't hesitate to chase me if I was within view. Luckily for me they must have been terrorizing some poor, defensless camper. Finally I came to the bridge that went over the French Broad. I walked out until I was standing somewhere near the middle of the water and looked out to see the waters winding through the mountains. The waters around the rocks and along the banks has already frozen over and snow was beginning to settle on the small ice islands. I brushed the snow off of the railing and leaned my elbows against it, not careing about the wet spots that formed on my sleeves, and simply watched the ice. The river smelled different during this time of year. During the summer it had a scent of decay- leaving the taste of something like swamp water on your mouth when you breathed. But when it snowed it seemed to wash that away and all you could smell was wood burning in the distance. I looked from side to side, just to be sure that I really was the only one out and about, and seeing that I was alone I stuck out my tongue and caught a few snowflakes.

Smiling, I put my hands back into my front pocket and headed home.

Paula Deen and Shiney Things

I got a package from Aarin today :3 It consisted of some tiny ornaments for our tree and my Christmas present which may or may not be a book. LOL inside jokes...

Anyway, yah, it's totally a book. :D It's called Paula Celebrates and yes, it's a Paula Deen cook book! *wiggles* If ya'll know me at all, then you know that I love me some Paula Deen. She's that wonderful combination of cook and story teller that most people only see in their own grandmothers. I think it's safe to say that this is pretty much a requirement if you're a Southern woman. The book is a good example of this as each set of menues comes with a story of why the recipes are important to her and memories of her family. It'll be a good read :3

Imagin my surprise when I told Nana that I had this book and she told me that Paula was being picketed! She couldn't remember why, so I looked it up. You can read the news story HERE if you want to. It's from a news station in Savannah, Georgia- where Paula Deen's restaurant The Lady and Sons is located.

Basically what had happened was, Paula is the celebrity spokesperson for a ham company here in NC. Apparently they are having some Union issues as the workers feel they're environment is crap. It may very well be, I dunno. The point is, because Paula Deen is the celebrity spokesperson, they're trying to use her to get to the company. She's refusing to help them, however, because she feels it is not her place to be involved in the negotiations as she doesn't know anything about running a Union. She's a cook- that's all she knows.

I'd just like to say- Go you, Paula! I will cherish my copy of your book and I hope things return to normal for you and your employees at The Lady and Sons.

I HAVE to share this quote with you

I'm gonna share a quote from Dead Beat with ya'll. Don't worry, there are no spoilers. In fact, I won't even tell you who Harry's talking to in this scene. Just know that the book is written from Harry's POV.

"'Race me back. Beat me there, and I'll tell you.'
I blinked. 'What kind of kindergarten crap is that?'
His grey eyes flashed with anger. 'You want to know what it's like? Beat me down the beach.'
'Of all the ridiculous, immature, nonsense,' I said. Then I hooked a foot around *****'s calf, shoved him down to the sand, and took off down the beach at a dead sprint."

Yah. That made me lawl SO HARD.

Christmas stuffs has begun!

I have our sad lil' tree up :D It needs more decorations, but all we have are either broken or too heavy for it's little branches. I'm actually tempted to take off all of the stuff and wrap around my extra set of lights, just to give it a little more zazz.

Yes. Zazz.

I need a trip to walmart...or a drugstore or something so I can get small, cheap things to put on the tree. The dollar store has some, but most of them are broken. I can't use those XD

Here's what I've done to the house so far:

Wow XD

So when I logged on to post on blogger today, I saw a little info bit about embedding YouTube videos. I LAWLED because the example they used was this guy. He's known for playing songs by making farty noises with his hands. The really funny thing is that he did a cover of Slot's song 2Wars (Dva Vaini, I think) and ya know, they're one of my favorite bands EVER. But seeing as they're from Russia and their cds haven't been released here, I can't buy their stuff. *woe* I'm listening to the new songs they've added on myspace and OMG!

In other news, I'm putting up the Christmas tree today. Or Yule tree. Depends on how you look at it lol. Anyway, this has require cleaning on my part. I know, it's scary, but I did it. So far I've done dishes (momma already had the washer loaded, so that wasn't much...), cleaned out one of the chairs in the living room (so now I've given up half my bed for my bag of clothes. GAWD I need my own place...), I also cleaned the stains off of said chair, fixed my door (that had nothing to do with the tree area, but I needed a better way of keeping the pets out of my room), and washed a load of clothes. I won't actually be able to get the tree up until I dry the clothes that I have in the wash now (the blanket for it is in there), so now I'm kind of wasting time. XD

This blog is brought to you by Rain Corp.

The coporation that will not turn you into a zombie.

So yah, Aarin challenged me to make a fake a commercial and Emily decided it should be about using CAPSLOCK all the time. So...there ya go. It could be a lot funnier, and I may redo it one day, but for now, this is what you get.

My purdy face.

I did a vlog for ya'll. Watch it. I had to cut it in two because it was over ten minutes and ya know, youtube doesn't like that. So I tried to make the times relativly even. Also, I did this yesterday, so that's why I talk about it totally being Friday.

Here are the questions, btw:

1) What's your name?
2) How old are you?
3) Where are you from? Are you living there right now?
4) Is it cold where you are?
5) What's the time?
6) What are you wearing?
7) What was the last thing you listened to?
8) What was the last thing you ate?
9) What was the last thing you watched on tv?
10) What's your favorite tv show? Why?
11) Quick! Find a book, or something with text on it! Flip to a random page and read some of it! GO!
12) What was the last movie you saw? How was it?
13) Do YOU think you have an accent? Talk about that.

Work woes

Working at the spa is destroying my shoes. I mean, it'd probably help if my pants weren't so long cuz they rub sand all over my shoes. I'll get around to fixing those as soon as I find my really big safty pins. But ya know...my sneakers just aren't made for this kind of abuse and once winter really sets in, I'll die from slipping on ice. I need something with treads that can withstand being soaked in water. So I'm thinking of getting these. They're water proof AND have "Hydrogaurd" lining. I guess that means the inside is waterproof too. I don't really need steel-toed boots, but hey- that couldn't hurt, ya know? And they're pretty reasonably priced. So next Friday when I get paid (that check will be nothing but spending money, boy howdy), I'll be running to walmart for these bad boys. EXCITEMENT!

Also, tonight, I got a dollar tip :3

Playing Games Can Save The Hungry

So last night I made it to another NaNo meeting. It was fantastic, ya'll just don't know. I'm all kinds of excited about the fact I've met new people (and made them lawl) and stuffs. During the meeting, Santiago told us about this site that she's gotten addicted to. It's called FreeRice.com. It's a word game. You guess the meaning of the words and expand your vocabulary. For each word you get right, the site donates 10 grains of rice to a starving family. 10 grains probably doesn't sound like much, but I think like 1,000 is a cup of rice. And a cup is a lot to a starving family. That's also only 100 correct answers.

My friends are all smart people...so get your asses to work on this site. Feed some people. Learn some things. It'll be great.

Oh, and tell everyone you know about this. Look at it as officially being tagged in the "Tell everyone and their mom about FreeRice.com" meme.

Seriously.

I can fake it with the best of anyone...

Sorry, Fake It by Seether is stuck in my head *bounces a little*

So yesterday I was suppose to go to a write-in in Asheville, but...well...the "check engine" light came on and last time that happened in the van stuff exploded, causing us like $146 in damage. So I came home. I was really nervous, but there were no odd smells/sounds that would indicate something was wrong, so mostly I was just pissed off. I made it home safe and told Momma and Nana what happened. Nana said it was probably just like a warning that we needed transmission fluid or something.

My Mom gets in the car today...and no light. DAMMIT! I swear the van is trying to make me look like a paranoid freak. Especially since I was going on and on about the brake lights not working, only to discover that I was seeing things (or, well, NOT seeing things I guess), and they're working fine and dandy. *sighs* Just to be sure, though, Nana's going to show me how to check all of the various fluids- though I managed to check the oil and refill the washer fluid (that's been out for MONTHS) all by myself. I was proud. So yah...gonna get dressed and be a grease monkey for a little bit...then I have a staff meeting and HOPEFULLY I'll be going to a NaNo meeting tonight.

Fun with my mom

Commercial said this "Not for people taking aspirin or the elderly"

Mom: "Taking the elderly? I don't believe that can be washed down with a coke."

Me: "Maybe it's a suppository."

She then made the D: face.

Oh, and earlier, while carrying in groceries, I said "As an American, I reserve the right to be loud and obnoxious."

As Promised:

Final count tonight: 11,311! So awesome, I know!

My work schedule sucks this week, but oh well, I think I'll survive. Here is that pic of the van that I've been promising, btw:

NaNo: Day 9

I think I wrote 1400 words or so last night. 700 for Day 8 and 700 for the beginning of Day 9 (I was up passed midnight). That's not too bad and I should be able to write more at work tonight. As far as plot goes, I'm moving into one of the first "horror" scenes. I feel that my details are lacking, but ya know, it is just a rough draft. I also have some sad news to tell you all: My favorite pen is now in its last days. I've had to retire it so I can still write things from time to time...but it will be sadly missed as I finish out NaNo with a different pen.

Some other stuff has happened, but I can't really go into the same detail here as I do in my LJ.

I will say, though, that my van is now fixed and in working order. I expect to be able to go to NaNo Write-ins in Asheville now :D I was thinking of posting on the regional forums about a meeting on Tuesday. Maybe Wednesday. Depends on lots of stuff. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll either have Thursday off or I will get off before 5pm. Then I can go to the weekly meeting :3

Well, I'm off to take a shower now and get dressed for work. Maybe write a little before I leave. I have to remember to stop and get something to microwave for dinner, though. Or maybe I'll see if Matilda wants to make a quick trip to Newport for some Taco Bell when I get off. She'll still be awake.

NaNo: Day 6

So I still haven't broken 6,000 words. But ya know, the day's still young and whatnot. I'm starting to get into places where I'm not sure what needs to happen- but it's cool because ideas are flowing much more easily than I first anticipated. I've found that writing in my little notebook tends to go a bit faster than when I'm staring at my computer screen. Now why that is, I dunno. But it's working. I think maybe because I don't have to guess how many words I've done because I know that one page is roughly a little over 100, so I can keep tally without really thinking about it.

Also, I'm really likeing these "Pep Talk" emails that get sent from NaNoWriMo.org. They're written by published authors and they're, well...pep talks (duh). This last one suggested that no matter what kind of block you're in, you should force yourself to write at least ten words. I like that.

In non-NaNo news: OMG THEY'RE SELLING THE LITTLE DEBBIE CHRISTMAS TREE CAKES! *OMNOMNOMNOM* I love these things, ya'll just don't know. In other OTHER news- I killed my mom's car yesterday. Well not really. A belt came off, but I was driving it at the time and yah. That's why no sushi for me or Emily T_T It'll be fixed by tomorrow afternoon we hopethink. After that, I have to drop the van off at Original Look so they can attatch the spiffy blue door that I drove all the hell over to Greenville for. It won't be ready until Thursday afternoon though. I also have no idea if I have to work Thursday (the schedule wasn't printed when I checked today), so I dunno how that's gonna work. Hopefully I'll only work til 3pm. That'll give me time to go up there. Now, how I'm going to get the van home is another story. I need someone to drive with me :/ Maybe I can talk someone into staying after 5 to wait for my mom....oh wait...I'll have her car. So I dunno how she'd get up there. If all else fails, Matilda has Friday off, so maybe I can ask her and we can go get it then.

NaNo: Day 5

So it's Day Five of Nano and I have 4131 words. I'm a bit behind, but I have the next three days off. Can you say speed writing? XD Work has been slowing me down a bit. I got so used to doing nothing all day, and then suddenly I'm running around for 6 or so hours a day- my body wasn't likeing that so I was pretty much dead when I got home. However, I bought a little notebook (small enough to fit in my pocket) so I can right when I'm waiting for the tubs to fill. Even on the busy nights, after everyone's in their tubs, we might have a whole half hour where we have to wait. During those lulls last night (which was busy as hell), I cranked out over 600 words. I was proud :D

As for the story itself, it's coming along pretty well. I'm not likeing the narration too well right now, but that's because it's 3rd person. Generally my narrator's are a character all their own (never me, cuz ya'll know how poorly I tell stories XD), and this one....I dunno. It just doesn't have it's own voice yet. I'm sure it'll start to flow after a while. This is also my second attempt at a horror theme. The first was my other mermaid story. I think I had the same problem with it too XD So maybe it's just that genre lol. I've missed useing 3rd person (limited) though. I can go into so much more detail with it- or at least it seems like I can because I'm not completely restricted by the knowledge of a character. But other than the narration, it's all good. I'm starting to get more backstory on the main character and her fears/ambitions and whatnot. I'm having a little trouble making all of the other orphans she watches over their own individuals, but that's slowly coming along as well. Names are mostly kickin my ass though xD That's nothing new lol.

In other non-Nano news...I GET TO GO FOR SUSHI WITH EMILY! And possibly swing by and see Sarah :D There will also be some Walmartness happening. But mostly SUSHI!! Though I hope Emily doesn't mind me scribbling in a notebook while I shovel tempura into my face and talk to her all at the same time.

Word Count and Pictures

So I started writing at mindnight and by 2am had 1879 words :D Then yesterday, after only have three hours of sleep >_<, working, and then grocery shopping, I wrote for like ten minutes and got up to 2170! So yay for a good first day! I'm about to start on today's work. I just had some delicious noodles and have actually had a good night's sleep. Seriously, I passed out somewhere around 10pm and woke up at about 10:30 this morning. And now I'm full of noodles...though I want more >_>;
Oh and just for Terri cuz she left a comment about it :D

OMG NANO!!

NANOWRIMO STARTS IN JUST A MOMENT!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Oh Shi~

I just finished carving my craptacular pumpkin. I guess I did well since I had to eyeball the whole thing. I should have made Jack's mouth stictches thingies a bit longer, but I was afraid of messing it up. I'll post pics after tonight when I have the pumpkins lit with glowsticks.

Oh, and also:

I R HAS JORB!!

Pardon Me Just a Moment...

If you are my mother: Please move along. There is nothing to see here. *waves hand in front of your face* This is not the blog you are looking for. Now back to the blog.

Shit fuck bitch bananas it's cold outside!

Seriously. No one warns me about these things! I mean, I knew it'd be pretty chilly, so I put on my hoodie...but shit, you can't spring cold like that on a girl first thing in the morning! See, I needed the car so I can run an errand this morning. I was originally gonna come back home, take a shower, and then go do my thang, but fuck that shit. If I go out with wet hair before noon today I'LL DIE. My hair has a few hours before it'll start to look greasy, and by then I'll have completed my errand and can take a shower without having to go outside.

By the way, I felt you guys should all know that I'm eating, what I like to call, a death biscuite. Well, it's actually on an English Muffin, but I love those too much to associate them with this break fast item. They're really called Breakfast DeLights or some other equally cliche` diet food name, and are the only diet food that I didn't beg to have in the house. It has eggs white, fake!sausage, and cheese on it. I finally just started picking the frozen disk o' egg white off of it and throwing it away XD I call them death biscuites because they cause horrible, agonizing pain in my tummy. So why am I eating one? Well, it was either this or mac and cheese for breakfast, and I just didn't have the patience to boil water.

Today is the day before Halloween. I know you guys know that, but I had to say it cuz...well...STFU. No, but really my town is silly. All the chil'ren have to ToT (why does that remind me of doin a B&E? Damn you Dane Cook...), tonight instead of tomorrow because tomorrow's Wednesday and they're afraid the the chil'rens will want to go get free candy instead of listening to some lecture about God. I can see their concern. Though, really, I would have just used that opportunity to hold a haunted house at the church as a fundraiser or something....I dunno. I do know that we're the only town in the county that has decided to do this. People like my mom are trying to make a big religious in-tollerence comment about it, but I don't think that's what it is. It's not about what holiday it is, it's the fact there will be free candy and ya know, they're just kids. They aren't going to want to go to church if free candy is involved. It just seems easier to they to have the chil'rens ToT on a different day. Though, honestly, all the little chil'ren could probably get their ToTing done before time for service, or they could go after and still not be out too late. But whatever. It's not my call.

Having said all of this, I would like to point out that me and momma didn't carve our pumpkins. Why? Well, momma was being a snotface. Ok, well, she had a headache and didn't feel all in the 'Weeny spirit. I think she was still mad at me about the books thing, personally. That and I kept thinking I had 'til Wednesday. So after I take my shower, I will have to sit outside and demolish carve my pumpkin. I dunno if my mom will do the other one or not 'cause she doesn't get off work until 5pm and the really little chil'ren will have started their walk by then. Well, some will, anyway. It was also decided that we are, indeed, hadning out candy this year. My mom bought some yesterday (though some of it melted in the band and now the rest is sticky T_T), and the plan is to have me sit out on the porch all night with the candy. We would have people knock like normal individuals, but that'll drive the dogs nuts, and then us nuts by proxy. Relax kids, I'll have my laptop out there at some point, so don't be afraid of missing me. I dunno what to do about our pumpkins though...'cause I'll have to "light" them with my spare glowsticks, but you won't be able to see them all glowy and neat with the porch light on (which as everyone knows, is the national signal of I HAVE CANDY).

Do you think they will still ToT at our house if the porch light is off? I mean, I will be out there afterall.

Monday, October 29, 2007

Well, it was about time.

Comment, and I will comment back with a picture of the fictional character that most reminds me of you. Then post the same in your journal and join in the fun!

I've commented on at least two other journal/blogs, so I figured it's about time I did it XD

Videos and Memories

So...I was reading my FList and there was some really poppy videos posted. All I could think of was the group 5ive. Yes, spelled with a 5 because they were cool like that. Anyway, this was during the same time as my big Backstreet Boys obsession phase (I totally almost wrote BSB and got giddy for a moment...*goes to corner of shame*), which, let's admit, never really went away. I mean, if they were in concert in Asheville and I had the opportunity to go- I'd be there SO HARD.

*coughs*

Back to 5ive. I don't think any of my friends really listened to them except for Matilda, who I forced my cd on whenever I had the chance XD She may even have had a poster, I can't remember. For those of you who don't remember this happening, or need your memory refreshed, I have gifted you with a video:

Watch it. Seriously. It made me giddy and I haven't even thought of this group in like eight years.

Oh, and a special note to Erin and Mary: Reese's Pieces still aren't the same for me. Thanks for that.

Riding in Cars with Matilda

So...to sum up Matilda's driving today, I said the following while screaming for my life:

"This Oh Shit Bar doesn't have nearly enough Oh Shit for me!!"

Because really? What does that thing do?

Anyway...I had fun and I bought books with money that nana gave me that I had sworn to myself that I wouldn't spend.

I'm so weak T_T Seriously, I think I have a problem. It's like Jacci and the ebooks for that little while.

Oh, and for those of you who knew about my plans- We ended up ditching him, so the plan didn't go through XD I'll have to chase him off some other way. Ah well.

In other news- Matt (Megan's Matt) is offcially my Beta Reader for the smuttacular story I'm working on. He had lots of helpful crits so I like, owe him muffins or something.

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

So I'm watching the Halloween special on Cartoon Network. First of all, I'd like to say that I love the Dracula puppet. He fills me with glee.

That aside...omg, this special of Foster's is AWESOME! It appears the zombie fad has made it to cartoons, and let me tell ya: It gave me roffles. Bloo even had a version of the The Zombie Survival Guide.

You guys have to watch this. Seriously. It also strengthened my <3 for Edwardo when he freaked out and instead of his usual small utterings in Spanish, he went off on a tangent with absolutely no English. He even had Bloo speaking Spanish.

OH NOES PACO!!!

The Little Things

It's unexpected how happy a phone call can make me. Seriously, eventhough umm...crap, I need a nickname for this guy. Someone think of something....he can't be Stupid Boy because he hasn't proven himself to be such. Soo...you guys think of something. Anyway, yah...he's called me twice now and is apparently making an effort to call me everyday...despite the fact it's long distance for him. I make the :D face.

In other not-so-sappy news- my favorite hair clip broke D: It's the octopus clip that Aarin gave me for graduation *sniffles* That was the best clip ever, too. *sighs* I suppose I'll have to find another one...but it won't be as special as that one was. My camera's lense cap is broken as well >_< I think I can get that replaced though. One day when I have a job, I'll have to look on the kodak site to see if they sell them. Which brings me to another thing: the gas station has already hired someone else. I wanna know why I didn't hear anything *grump* Ah well, the guy there told me to keep checkin back just in case. They haven't been able to keep anyone ('cept the old guy) for more than two weeks. So here's to hopeing that this new guys sucks too :D Haha, I'm so horrible sometimes XD

Big Ball O' Adorablness

So yesterday went well =^^= He was full of shy cuteness and we all know that's a plus. Much hilarity ensued at the park. Mostly invovling slides XD

Yah, it was a good day.

Wet Hair and Bananas :D

I'm up and showered- BEFORE NOON! Is it a miracle? Maybe...cuz I has a date :D Matilda set me up with a friend of a friend. A group of us are going for lunch and it's lookin like it'll be at Taco Bell XD How sexy is that? I might change my vote to Sonic though...assuming it doesn't rain.

Yah, I'm high class, what can I say?

XD

Uuuuggggghhhh...

I was going to work on my romance (read: smut) series (yah...I apparently can't write just one story for anything) but every day I get a horrible migrane T_T That kind of keeps me from wanting to look at my screen for any reason. I may actually finish the story this month though- assuming I can sit down for 2 hours a day and crank out about a thousand words each time. It's possible, just hard to do when I don't really have a desk to sit at, or a room to sit in that's away from the tv. I'm considering sitting out on the porch during the day for this, assuming it gets a little bit colder and all those yellow jackets I saw today are gone >_> I mean, I'm all for suffering for one's art and all...but I'm not getting my butt stung for some writing XD Hopefully if I can write more that way, then that will be my game plan for NaNoWriMo. Seriously guys, if you haven't signed up, you need to. It's gonna be supper fun and I need writing buddies :D I think I'll add a badge thingie for it over in my sidebar...even though that thing is kind of full of crap already XD Hmm....maybe I'll get rid of the facebook section...*considers*

I has a pumpkin delight cookie *OMNOMNOMNOM*

Post Office Trauma

I just took Yoda for a walk to the Post Office. I was carrying him out and was in the process of setting him down when he decided to JUMP and landed on his head/back.

ON THE SIDEWALK!

He rolled over and then swayed a whole lot with his eyes closed before he came to his senses...then he cried. Loudly. A lot.

A few minutes later and he was fine. Now he's laying in the floor at my feet trying to take a nap, but the fleas keep waking him up. Momma checked him out- he doesn't have a knot or anything and he didn't break any teeth. But ya know, I cried anyway cuz I'm pretty sure I caused him to break something in his head and he'll die before Monday.

I'm not a positive thinker as of late.

Mother Nature and Broomsticks

So I got up this morning and I was like "Dang, why it so cold?" I figured the air was on, but it didn't take me long to realize it wasn't. The house smelled like fall. I got up and warbled into the bathroom, took a shower, and somewhat less warbled out after getting dressed. On my way to get some leftover pizza I looked at our super-special thermomiter that reads both the indoor and outdoor temps. It said that it was 58 degrees outside. I was like "Whhhhaaaaaatttt..." and ran to the door. Low and behold IT WAS COOL OMG!

Dear Mother Nature,
OH EM GEE LADY! I love you so much right now. Plz to be keeping up the good work.

Love,
A Very Pleased Fat Chick

So with this good weather in mind, I cleaned. And I don't mean I just kinda vaccumed (though I did do that too), I mean I went outside, walked to the hardware store, bought work/gardening gloves, walked back, and cleaned off a good half of the porch in about an hour. I would have continued, but I need a truck to cart off all of the lumber and buckets o' things that I can't put in a garbage bag. My aunt might be helping with that. However, for right now, my mom has agreed to pumpkins. YAY PUMPKINS OMG! I shall make pumpkins with emoticon faces. Why? Because I suck at teh carving. I can really only remember doing it like four times in my life. I'm sure there were more, but that's all that I can remember. Mommy can do good carvings, but ya know...that's her. She's all crafty with things. Good at sketching too, she just doesn't do it often. Anyway, yah...pumpkins are to happen.

Nano bots in NaNoWriMo?

Ok, so I finally decided to take part in National Novel Writing Month. Yah, I've apparently lost my mind. I joined the region for Asheville and started posting on their forums. I didn't know what I was going to write about yet so I said:

"I dunno what my NaNo novel will be about...something with vampires...or set in a furture, post-apocolyptic world...maybe with mermaids....I dunno. Could be all three, knowing me XD OOO, vampiric mermaids with bionic arms!! lol"

I was just joking at first. Then I thought about it for a while...and that's totally what I'm going to do. Only, after some late-night planning, it'll be nano machines instead of bionic arms.

I posted the plot on my LJ- set on Friends only XD I'm a little paranoid of literary thievery ^^; So you know...leave a comment if you want to know more and I can send you an email or somethin.

'SPLOSIONS

Do I mean "explosions" or "implosions?" Read more to find out :D

So the mountains aren't really known for having earthquakes (not ours, anyway), but while I was away at school my mom had told me we had a few. She kept saying "I wish you were here, it was such a wierd feeling." Now, those of you who have experienced one probably wouldn't agree, but keep in mind that these were tiny quakes that were sometimes confused with thunder. Well, the other night I was sittin here with my laptop (now named Dellilah...yay for Dell laptops XD), and there was a mild BOOM outside.

We ignored it and moved on.

A little while later, there was a louder, window rattling BOOM. That got our attention. My mom looked up and said "Now that's what an earthquake feels like." She was totally convinced that's what had happened.

The next day we find out that someone found an UNPINNED GRENADE stuck near the rain road tracks near my house, and they had called in the bomb squad to detonate it. First they tried with half a stick of dynamite. But the guy missed. HE MISSED. Yah, I feel safe. So the second time was a full stick. Luckily they got it with that one.

But seriously...HE MISSED?

In other news...my "romantica" story is going slowly- like only a few sentences a day slowly. I blame the internet. But I do have about 5 pages done. So yay! More of the details are getting clearer, though, so I should hit it at full speed sometime soon.

Random Days of October Part 1

Ok, so here's that post I kep promising you. On Tuesday, I intended to do a "day in the life" thing like Emily...and much like her, I gave up halfway through XD I ended up, however, just taking pictures until Thursday. So...there's some randomosity. Here's the first bit.

I r wake up early. SUNLIGHT BAD.

Brusha, brusha, brusha.

I is dressed noa.

Cookies, the breakfast of champions.

I was bored waiting for Nana at the clinic.

I'm a ghost, woooOOOOooOOOooo

Umm...

So, yah...I did more stuff that day, but I'll post that later. Note the van parked directly in front of the building. I HATE when people do that? What if Nana had come out right then? I wouldn't be able to drive up to her. Some people are just really inconciderate.

In other news: Both my mom and my grandmother were diagnosed with Diabetes this week. Somehow, this has become a running gag between myself and my mom. She'll pick up a cookie, scarf it, and say "You know, I shouldn't eat this cuz I has the Diabetes. And the obesites."

We generally take all bad news like this.

Story of the van and what happened at Build A Bear to happen soonish.

Sneak Peak

Because I want to write things on my pictars with photoshop, and I dunno where the disk for that is, it'll be while before I can post my stories of the passed few days.

But here, I give you preview.

The sexiest thing evar.

Whhhhyyyyy...

So we went to get the door. It was an adventure. I'll post details later, (with pictures :D), but not right now. Just know that the door is still at the junk yard and the van in now imobile.

Job interview is tomorrow. I think I can get there if I start walking now.

OHMAIGAWD!

So why the excitement? CHECKA THIS!

That's right, folks. A Dresden Files graphic novel.

I think I've died. Or maybe just asleep. No one wake me up, plzkthnx.

Picture meme?

So...I've been taking pictures today for a kind of "A day in the life of..." kind of thing. Mostly it's pictures of my bored face while I was waiting for Nana to finish at the clinic. I'll post them...umm...sometime. Maybe later today. Right now though, I'mma go hunt down some foods cuz I'm really hungry for no apparent reason.

Ah...another book done

I've finished Blood Rites and I am officially lableing this one as my favorite of the Dresden Files series. Why? Well...I can't tell you because that would spoil pretty much the entire plot so far. Just know that it's awesome. I would also like to point out the color ways in which Harry likes to cuss. Not curse, cuz ya know...with a wizard that's something else entirely. Other than general terms, he likes to use the phrase "Hell's bells" and "Stars and stones." Well, something big happened and he said this:

"Hell's holy stars and freaking stones shit bells."- Blood Rites pg.346

So special.

In other news...Sammy now has his cone off and stitches out. He's been goin nuts ever since XD I took some pics of his new found freedom, but I don't feel like uploading them right this minute, so ya'll will have to wait.

So guess who called this morning.

No really, guess...

THE BUILD A BEAR WORKSHOP OMGWTFBBQ!!

I have an interview a week from today at 4pm. Stuffed animals FTW.

Take THAT unemployment.

Joblessness cheesecake for me!

Umm...inside joke. Anyway, I went to the Dillard's (I don't care about hiding their name anymore XD) again for an interview. This time I made it through the application without the computer dieing on me, but I have yet to have an interview. Why? Well...I'm being schlepped off to the other departments. The lady I talked to today said that their floor manager wasn't there (even though I knew that he was, that's why I was there. Plus I could hear him from his office) and then told me that I couldn't work in Women's because I'd fail. Yes, she used the word fail. So she set me up an appointment for Wednesday with some other woman...and I just kind of nodded. I'm sure she noticed that I wasn't writing any of it down. She also told me, for all intents and purposes, that I needed to dress better or I wouldn't make it passed saying 'hello.' *looks down* These are the nicest clothes that I have. I can't get anything better for a while, at least not before 1pm on Wednesday. Soooooo...I'm going to call tomorrow and cancel the appointment...maybe tell them another, closer opportunity came up. The stress (and general shame that I felt for how I dress and live), isn't worth it. Neither is the gas- not when I'm not being paid, anyway.

Nana wants me to file for unemployment...momma has brought it up as well. I dunno how to feel about this.

Anyway...yah. I like animal crackers.

Wearing Suits vs. Stuffing Bears

Friday I went to Possible Employer's to fill out the in-store application. I ended up going alone because Nana cancelled her doctor's appointment and rescheduled for Monday. I was kind of angry because I like having everything planned out and that totally messed everything up. Plus, no one bothered to wake me up, even though I had asked. Remember what my mom says- things happen for a reason.

I went to the store and into the costomer services place. I had to wait while the nice lady went to check on the system- apparently it had gone down once that day, but luckily it was working fine now. So I sat down and went about filling it out. I go to the questionair bit and was more than half way through (95 questions, wtf?), and it CRASHED. I don't just mean the computer I was on. No. Their WHOLE SYSTEM went down, time-clocks and all. *sighs* She told me to come back on Monday- that's when the floor manager would be back anyway. Haha, and I'll be in Asheville tomorrow anyway XD

Well, I figured since I was in the mall, I'd wander about for a bit. I went to the bookstore, but they didn't have ANY of the Dresden Files. 'Cept White Knight, but I'm not that far yet. I went back downstairs and waddled about until I saw that the new Build A Bear Workshop is open :D I was excited because I've never actually been in one before. So I went in while I was on the phone with my mom, telling her about the computer problems. She told me to see if BABW was hiring, half joking. After I hung up, I asked for an application lol. They were hiring! So I filled that out, which took well over an hour from having to call everyone and their mom for references. I want you to know that the only two people that I could get a hold of have only known me for four years...the minimum for the app was 5. Friends lieing for you = priceless. I turned it in to the very-hot-and-way-out-of-my-league-and-not-my-type-but-still-friggin-hot-guy at the counter and made my way out of the mall.

After that I ploddled over to the Books-A-Mil and bought Blood Rites cuz ya know...Harry Dresden. Then I went over to the B and N because the Books-A-Mil didn't have Seeing Redd. I got my copy of that along with part of Aarin's birthday present.

Let me tell you right now, the book was AWESOME. I can't wait until the third one comes out next month- Though I'm pretty sure that's the last one. Oh! There's still the graphic novel to read (I can only order it from the author's site though T_T), and then there's the art book and they're making all of the books (and the comic) into either one movie or a trilogy, I'm not sure. God I want to see Hatter's fighting scenes, YOU HAVE NO IDEA! This is what he looks like in the comic. Isn't the artwork interesting? Go here and checkout the official site for the series. Seriously, the pictures are perdy in an odd sort of way. And there are trailers for the books XD Which I find amusing.

More updates FTW

I think my addiction to twitter has led to me continuously making updates.

Anyway...

So ya know how the door's falling off the van? Well, it's gotten considerably worse...I mean, I hear the hinge creaking with weight while I'm driveing- it's seriously about to just snap off. Well, Nana told me today that she found a replacement door at a junk yard about an hour or so away.

The door isn't the same color as our van.

Oh yah, the van is gettin' even more ghetto.

Hizzells yah.

Quick Update

So like...I got another call from Possible Employer asking me to set up an interview XD I was confused so I said I could do it next Saturday. Yah, I can be ruttin' retarded when I first wake up. I ended up calling back and ended up making the EXACT SAME PLAN as I did with the guy yesterday. BTW, today's call was from some woman who has like her own office and is in charge and whatnot. I dunno who the hell that guy was. Sooooo tomorrow I have to take Nana to the doctor, drop her off, then skeedattle over to the mall to fill out an app and go through my interview. I feel bad that I'll be leaving Sammy home alone T_T He still shakes if I so much as leave the room to put on pants...then of course since I have on pants, he thinks I'm leaving, so he sits on my foot and trembles.

He's such a drama puppy.

Fangirling post. LIVE WITH IT

So...I dunno if I ever actually reveiwed the Dresden Files books or not...but I should probably do something about that. I mean, I just finished book 5 XD after all.

So here ya go: These books are AMAZING. Ok, ok, I know, I've said that already- but I don't think I ever really explained why. Well, other than my undieing love for both Bob and Harry, anyway. First of all, the narration drives me into giggles. It's sort of similar to how I imagine Batman's inner voice being. Ya know, brooding and a little angsty, but full of jokes to keep him from going insane. C'mon, in this last book he started singing the theme song from Underdog while he was facing torture and death. While wearing a tux. I dunno, somehow that makes it about ten times funnier. Another reason why I ADORE these books is the plot :D I mean, yes, we get to read about awesome magic forces and generally Nevernever beasties getting their asses kicked. But it's more than that. The books are crime novels as well and definately carry that Matlock feel. And I love me some Matlock ya'll. Seriously though, the books are full of twists and turns. They aren't you're usual "OMG I HAD NO IDEA" kind either- at first you think you have it figured out, but then WHAM, something totally different happens. It isn't as strong in the first book, but it was Jim butcher's first novel (ever, I think), and he was just getting the feel for Harry as a character. I had the first one figured out, then the second and third books I got half of the plot figured. But in the fourth book...holy crap. I was totally off. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was able to see which Faerie court was behind it all way before Harry did, but I didn't know the how or why. I was totally thrown. It happened again with the fifth book. I had the buyer figured out pretty quick, but then, so did Harry. But I had a lot less than half of it figured out. And so did Harry...until the end XD He's special that way...in fact, he gets picked on by villians for being slow sometimes.

Another reason I'm in love with the series, is the description of magic. Much like Kim Harrison's books (which I need to get my hands on), the magic is much, much more than waving a stick and saying memorized words. Ok, well, there's a little of that, but he's mostly pointing his stick (blasting rod), and that's explained better. He goes into small descriptions of different forms of magic use like evocation, which he calls KABOOM magic, and thaumaturgy (sp?), which is what a lot of people think (though they aren't exactly correct) of as voodoo- there's some use of dolls and what not. He also uses summoning circles and potions. On top of this he describes how he uses his engery while trying to cast a spell or evocation. He also goes into explaining the use of words (and for those Earthsea fans out there, the use of Names), saying that they aren't preset words- mostly they are words that the wizard (or wizardess) uses for themselves (Harry likes using latin becuase it sounds cool), and sometimes they are just nonsense syllables to help them concentrate. I like this. I also love that he is able to seperate religion and magic. Kind of a "all Faiths give you Power, but not all Power comes from Faith" sort of thing. See? More reasons to love him.

Hmm..ya know...I may have said all of this before, I don't really remember XD

So in other (only very slightly) related news- Apparently Seeing Redd is already out. In fact, it's been out for a while and I didn't know lol. What's Seeing Redd you ask? Well, it's the sequal to The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor and it's another AWESOME book. I'm pretty sure you've all heard me talk about that one, so if you don't know about it, you can look it up. I still need to get my hands on the graphic novel Hatter M. as well. It's a spinoff.

Oh, and just as a side note- Christian McGrath has the prints of the covers he did for Jim Butcher for sale on his site. Click here to see an example. It's the cover from White Knight. I want all of the covers sooooooooooo badly T_T *weeps* They're $30 a piece though. *sighs* I still need a job lol.

So I think that's it for now. Oh wait! I almost forgot! I was poking about on Jim Butcher's site and found THIS. It's a short story about Harry Dresden. I'm not sure if this was written before the series or not, but my guess would be that it wasn't actualy written out until after maybe book one. Though, some of it seems like it was written, put aside, and then picked up again. I'm sure it was in his head before then, but you know how we writers can be ~_^ Anyway, it's a quick read and you don't have to be familiar with the series already to read it. If you poke around, you can also read the first few chapters of the books :D There's also this. It's just a really short snipit that will TOTALLY MAKE YOU LAUGH.

I promise.

So go check those out and leave lots of comments.

Various updates

There are lots of things for me to talk about, so I'm just going to ramble on and you can deal with it :D

So the most recent of events happened this morning. I made an appointment at the vet for Sammy cuz he has this weird...bubble...on his shoulders. So I cramed him into the van and we ploddled on over to Tnn. Some gross details later, we found out that it's just an absess...or something. The only way to get rid of it is surgery, and since he didn't eat anything this morning, now was just a good a time as any. So I left him there and made my way home, feeling weird that I left the house with a dog this morning and came back empty handed. I'm suppose to call them at 3pm to check on him...he doesn't get to come home until tomorrow though. And then he'll have to wear a cone for five days XD Yoda will laugh his ass off. Expect many pictures of the poor puppy with his cone head lol.

So this morning I actually checked my yahoo mail, and lo and behold I had an email from Kevin! I know, I was surprised too. It's been a year since I've talked to him. It wasn't actually just an email to me...it was to all of his contacts. He probably didn't even think I was still in there. It was an email asking for help with his newest site, and I offered to work in the forums. Haven't heard back though. Some part of me is hopeing that his heart skipped a beat and he coughed a little (cuz that's what happens when your heart beats irregularly), when he saw me sign up for his site. Not in a omg-I-miss-her-so-much kind of way, but a oh-crap-what-is-she-planning kind of way. I'm only a *little* bitter.

So the Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival was SUPER FUN. Despite the sunlight. There was lots of dancing, and I even brought out the poi briefly. This bit is going to be mostly pictures...so yah. I'm not going to post all of them, but you can just click on them to get to my gallery.

Interesting.

So umm...according to statcounter, most of the people who stumble onto this blog are searching for stuff about the chupacabre.

Weird. Cuz that's like...just one post about a comic I found once.

The Kidnapping

On our way back from Animazement '07, Matilda looked in her bags only to find....

dun dun dun...

SESSHOMARU WAS MISSING! We all checked our bags, but the plushie was no where to be found :/ There was only one conclusion- He had been kidnapped by the Bandits of General Badassed-ness!!

THE FIENDS!

After months of waiting for a sign, Matilda received this in the mail:

The Proof of Life

Yes...that is her plushie, blindfolded. This was their "Proof of Life" and they included a demand for some serious amounts of money.

They said that if Matilda didn't show up on time with the money, they would feed him to their ferocious hellhounds!!

The Threat

As you can imagine, Matilda feared for her beloved Sesshomaru-sama. So...she agreed to the demands. The following is photographic evidence of the events that day.

The Victim
Matlida was so heartbroken...she had to scrap to fill that bag with money...but...she just wanted Sesshy to be safe! The Bandits of Genral Badassed-ness demanded the cowboy theme. Aparently they are big into fashion as well.

Here is the associate they sent to make the trade:

The Villian
You have to admit...this villian is made of teh secks.

This is how the exchange went down:

The Payoff
Gee, that's a funny lookin wherehouse...

And finally we have the reunion and the getaway of the Bandit of General Badassed-ness:

The Reunion

The Getaway
Apparently the villian was a little drunk with power and greed because as you can see, the Villian almost fell over during the getaway.

*sighs* At least now Sesshomaru-sama is safely in Matilda's arms.

7am WTF?

ZOMG it's early morning and I'm awake! Is this some sort of new miracle?!

Nope, I just haven't fallen asleep yet lol.

Oh and....TANJOBI DESU!!! I ish quite excited about that.

That's not why I'm awake though...it's cuz my sleep schedule is fuxors and my wisdom teeth are giving me a headache XD It's ok though...cuz I wanted cinnamon buns. So now I'm making breakfast, which caused the following conversation:

Me: *pokin about in the kitchen, makes some noise while getting tinfoil*
Mom: What the HELL are you doing?
Me: ...Makin cinnamon rolls...
Mom: Oh...well then. Ok :D

She was excited that food was being made.

So yah...I'mma eat some of those and continue working on the current Gaia Event. And if I haven't passed out by then...well...I'll finally do that picture post I keep hinting to.

An open letter and some silliness

Dear Spider Queen,
Please tell your minions to GTFO. I'm tired of seeing a spider every time I turn around. Seriously, this has got to stop. It's not that I can't coexist with them...I just feel threatened and will kill them on sight. But this can be avoided. Just keep your minions *inside* our walls, around the general perimiter, and under the house. There are lots of food sources out there and I won't have chest pains anymore.

See how we all win?

You're friendly neighborhood aracnophobe,
Jessie

And now I give you this:

On the job front

I was checkin out the madison county government site last night and checka-dis:

The job that I wanted back in May is open again! Since they already have my application and whatnot, I decided to waddle on up there today and make sure that it was known that I was interested. It was known :D

I'll get my answer within 2 weeks.

Ya know...this will mean that I'll be teaching the chilrens after school...omg, the furture is dark o_o

Shake it like jell-o

make the boys say "hello"

So yah, I'm in a pretty good mood today aside from the assaults attempted by my uterus. In fact, I've actually been in SUCH a good mood, that I have had moments of "I'm kind of pretty." I know, scary right? It's weird...but it's a mood that strikes me once every few months. Now if only I could exploit this and flirt with males somewhere. Hell, I would flirt at the bowling alley if need be- problem is the lack of my social activity for the passed few weeks. I mean...the only times I've gotten out of the house recently have been to buy stuff from the store for the others in the house, and the one time that I went to the book store. And even on the rare occasion that Matilda actually has money to do something, she wants to Morristown or Newport, which is fine...but boring to me. Honestly, I'd rather go to Asheville and not spend any money on anything buy food- just walk around and look at stuff. I mean...that's all I wanted to do at Bele Chere...but even my own mother, who's NEVER BEEN, wouldn't go cuz she couldn't buy anything. I didn't buy anything last year, I just looked at stuff. *sigh* Oh well, that's over now.

In other news...I've decided that today is big girl appreciation day. First I got a friend request from a group called "+plushus" on myspace. They're a female group with the believe that big women are beautiful too. There's actually a very nice blog post on there called "Fat is the new Gay." Ya'll should check it out, it's pretty good. It also explains the name of their group. After that I was checkin the LJ friend list and Jacci had posted a music video praising big women. I was happy :D

I'm gonna head off now and search for good asian restaurants (that aren't fucking buffets >_<) and do a job search. *sighs* Stupid unemployment...I'm a hair away from looking at Ingles...gods know I'm 20 times the employee that those snot nosed brats who just SIT AROUND AND TALK while you wait for them to notice you have groceries.

I have a great distaste for Ingles employees.

Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally...

Golly what a day.

Kudos to whoever can tell me what that's from.

You know what I miss? Toon Heads...and other such shows that would present us with the propaganda cartoons and original loony toons from the 1930's-1940's. They used to only air at night when the little tykes were in bed, but have since been replaced with Adult Swim. I love Adult Swim and all, but now it's nothing but repeats...all week. I wish they had given us back our beloved classic cartoons on late friday nights, instead of extending Adult Swim. Seriously, I'd rather be watching the cartoon of the little fighter plane that wants to be a jet, rather than another re-run of Inu Yasha (which is honestly better to watch on DVD, not because of the voices, I am not a purest afterall, but because it's uncut). With all of this said, they have released DVDs of pop-eye.

In addition to this, my birthday is next month.

You just think about that.

O_O

So I'm reading Day Watch and a few chapters ago, there was reference to a Ramstein music video. Now, I was all kinds of proud because I recognized the description before he said the band's name, AND it's a video that I only saw ONCE at Katya's apartment. I'm pretty sure it never aired on MTV. Well now I want to share a passage with ya'll and don't worry, it doesn't contain any spoilers.

On page 279, our narrator has just met a witch named Alita:

"For a few seconds I watched the witch from behind. Her stylish silver jacket, the kind that mountin skiers and tourists wear...was decorated with a brightly colored image: a cartoon of a girl with big eyes and her foot thrust out in a kick, with the caption 'Battle Angel Alita.'"

OMG.

And to make this even more HOLY CRAP- there's a picture of Alita hanging above my head right now :D

God, I love Lukyaneko's references.

Haha, I win!

I braved Asheville only to discover that no one was around. There was little to NO traffic, which is rare for the city. The book stores had a lot of people, but it wasn't crazy- I guess I waited long enough for the fans to thin out....there was actually a creepy silence from all the people reading ^^; And again, I sorta wished I could be part of the crowd, sitting around with friends and reading...but oh well, too late I guess.

I also saw Andrew, and then an hour later, saw Freeman! OMG! It was crazy I tell ya.

So this weekend, I'm gonna be reading Fool Moon- let's see if I can get the three books that I bought knocked out before the end of July :D That would be rather awesome. I should call Jen and see if she's read any more of the series...course, knowing her if she's into it, she's already read all the ones that are out XD She ties Jamie with reading ability. I'm only on number 2 ^^;

I'm full of taco bell...mmmm....

Part of a Group

So I kind of wish hat I was into the Harry Potter books...simply because I wish I was part of a group and I could be all excited about the new book being out. But...I can't be part of that...the books that I read don't get hype. They also don't come out regularly- except Dresden Files...and a new series about a rubenesque vampire. Sarah read Night Watch...so far I think she's the only one who's read the same book as me, aside from things read in school.

I wish there was a book store in town T_T Or at least in Newport. And I mean a big book store like a Barns and Noble or Borders...hell, even a Books-A-Million. But no...*sighs* I think I'm going to Asheville tomorrow, I want the second Dresden Files book, Day Watch, and Real Vampires Live Large.

Yah, I'm totally going to Asheville tomorrow...anyone want to join me?

X3

Ok, so Sarah is (hopefully) going with me to see the show on Sat. Yay! I get to hang out with Sarah (and won't be eaten by something in a dark alley)!!

In other news...I took pictures of slugs yesterday. See, lookit!

Close up and personal

I'm sad though cuz there was a much bigger, and much oranger, slug that dissapeared when I left to get my camera. He was a ninja! OMG! Anyway...that's all my news for today...I guess that I'll buy my ticket online tomorrow and pick it up on Saturday...and maybe I'll go to the gas station tomorrow and beg for a job *grin*

They're sorta local (for me, anyway...like an hour away, maybe less), and the lead singer's voice = hawt AND his name is LESTER! That's just plain awesome in my opinion.

So go and listen...now.

I've started slowly but surely updating a story on my LJ. So if you want to read it, friend Marlewen on livejournal and you can read it ^^ Sorry, but my paranoia of writing theives causes me to do such things in friends only posts...

Oh God...it's everywhere...

Believe it or not, I've always thought about what would happen in a case like this...usually the first thing I would do is protect my pets, but...well, I can't do anything for them now. They didn't get them. No, they don't seem to touch animals, just people. Cars speeding through the carnage are what got the dogs...don't know where the cats went- they just shot right out the door in front of me. Oh well, they'll make it. I can't say the same for momma and nana though...momma at least had the chance to run, nana on the other hand never stood a chance. I couldn't stay in the house, a trailer is much too flimsy. I grabbed my bag, threw some food in it, and ran like hell.

Big girls should NEVER have to run like that. I thought I was going to pass out but I at least made it to the river. I'm typing this up, just so something of myself will have survived and if you're reading this then that means two things. 1. Go you for living. Try to keep that up. 2. I managed to brave town long enough to use someone's wireless. More than likely at Bright Leaf. But that aside, I'll tell you where I am now.

Like I said, I made it to the river. I was thinking of hiding in one of the caves that we used to see during the bus rides to school, but I figure they're too small and too close to the road. So I kept running. Believe it or not I actually had time to work with. It seemed like a sweep really...they came in from Newport, marching through town and taking over whatever house they saw. After that they moved toward Marshall. I may not be able to see many of them, but who knows who's been infected in their house and are just waking up. I ran into some hunters comming down off of the mountain. One of their guys was hit. They said it started as a bite, but after a few hours he started throwing up...then he just...stopped. They thought he was dead, then he just jumped up and went for one of the other hunters. They shot him in the abdomin a couple of times, but it didn't stop him. They said it took a shot through the head to stop him. They offered to take me with them, but as soon as they said they were headed to Marshall, (despite what I said about the sweep headed that way), I declined. Instead I took one of their guns, some ammo, and all of the lumber from their truck. Lucky for me Cletus was currently working on his barn, so he had a bunch of 2x4s.

I used the wood and some rope left by the riverside (thank God for thrown out junk), and I made a raft. The French Broad is pretty wide and there are all of these little islands in the middle of it. The raft worked pretty well, though I had to go upstream and ride back. Thanks to the rain, the current is really strong, so I figure even if they can walk into the water, they won't be able to fight the current. So that's where I am now...sitting on an island, listening to the ocasional scream comming from town. I don't think they can find me...I refuse to make a fire, and I figure the changing scent of the river will cover my scent...so here's to hoping.

why did this happen?

Sunburn and Cloggers

I went to the Bluff Mtn. Music Festival today. It was neat and I took a video of some cloggers and one of the performing bands. I didn't really stick around for long- it was hard to stay in the shade and the sun couldn't decided if it wanted to stay behind clouds or not. I had fun, but now my head and shoulders are sunburned.

Please send a hot, muscular man to my room to pamper my sunburn. Now please.

So...New vid?

There's a new video of Nessie out there. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'd link, but I'm too lazy, just google "newest video of nessie" or something and you'll find it- both CNN and MSNBC have it. Anyway, I dunno about this. I mean, I really want there to be something in that loch...in fact I'm pretty sure that there is (I think there's something living in the French Broad river too, but that's another story), but this video doesn't seem to help the matter any. Honestly, it looks like someting that could be quickly disproven...I'm pretty sure that there was a picture taken like it before and they said it could have easily been something else. Ah well.

So go check out my LJ...username Marlewen. I put a list of my stories on my lastest entry and I want people to leave a comment about which one they think I should work on. I'll post updates for it and everything. Of course, I just realized that I didn't put my mermaid story on there...which means it ISN'T on my flash drive...which means that it ISN'T on my computer anywhere. Dang. Ficton4U seems to be down for good as well, meaning I have no digital back up...crap. I'll have to re-write that one from memory >_< Maybe it's on my other flash drive. Let's hope...

So head over there and vote for a story for me to work on.

Of morbid facinations and 'possum flingin'

Be forwarned, I'm about to talk about animal death in a non-sympathetic way.

So apparently a baby possum fell into Ozzy's pen last night and died. This is the second time something like this has happened (last time a rat drowned in his water bucket), and it upsets him greatly. He hasn't left his dog house all day. So after dinner it was deemed my job to go get the possum off of his little porch and move it...somewhere. The destination wasn't exactly discussed, just agreed that it needed to be out of Ozzy's area. So I went out, let him run about the fenced in back yard, grabbed the shovel, and made my way to the crime scene. Now at first, we thought Ozzy had killed it 'cause it had gotten in his pen from the tree above- maybe it was going after his food like the birds do. To tell the truth, I was kind of excited that he had killed something. I know, I'm weird, but I like the idea of my pets having a savage side to them; this is part of the reason why I aggravate the crap out of Yoda until he snarls at me. It's just so cute! I also think that "eat your face" dogs are the cutest ever. Ya know, doberman pinchers, rotties, bull terriers, bulldogs in general...you get the picture. Oh by the way, Aarin, what do you think the chances are that we'll run into your neighbor's dog when I come to visit? Anywho...turns out the possum hadn't been torn into...I know cuz I looked. So I guess it should fell from the tree and died when it hit the porch. Poor Ozzy, possums just fallin' out of the sky...

I approached the possum with caution....I was actually terrified that it was playing dead (that is what they do, after all) and was waiting for Ozzy to leave in order to escape. So here I was, weilding a big ass shovel, just waiting for it to pounce. I imagined it lungeing toward me, leaving me no choice but to smack it with the shovel and starting what probably isn't the first ever game of possum baseball. So after wrestling it onto the shovel (it's foot was stuck in a groove of the porch >_<), I then carried it out and stood there, trying to decide where to put it. I opted to fling it onto the embankment. That's right, fling. The poor little thing was send zinging through the air, much like the cows and ducks in Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

I think I'm going to a special hell lol.

MAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!

Umm...dun ask about the title.

So I realized that I haven't posted since the graduation...so I figured I should say something. First, let me point out that I'm really not the sentimental type except in very rare occasions, and over the past two weeks I've had two moments and they didn't last longer than ten minutes. The first was during the first week home. I went to my Uncle Glen's house to see if he was done with the sales paper (I needed to clip coupons and there wasn't a single paper left in town), Terry warned me as we walked in that he might not remember me cuz he's been acting a little old-crazy lately, so I braced myself for the same conversations I used to have with Mamaw. I came in and the first thing he said to me was "Hey there little'un!" Ok, so he doesn't remember my name, but what of it! He does remember who I am and he imediately started asking me questions about school and stuffs. The next day he came to the house (he hasn't been here in YEARS) to congratulate me more on my graduation and patted me on the head. Now, you have to understand that that's pretty much the equivilant of getting recognition from my dad, and ya'll should know how important that is because I don't have one.

The other moment was at the ceremony, the best line of which happened during a speech given by a real southern woman who reminded me of Paula Deen, cept with an NC accent. She said "Now, my high school was so small that we used the same car for both driver's education and sex education." There was a tiny delay before the audience burst out in laughter. She brougth up Madison county too, and I was all "wooo!" and so were five other people in the audience...who just happened to be sitting next to my mom lol. Funny huh? But anyway...my next moment happened when they asked the parents to stand up because they're the reason we're here and what not. I got a little teary eyed because all I could think of was how my mom was able to rub my success in other relatives faces, she could now say "HEY! Look what came out of me!! I am NOT a bad mother!!" Her words, not mine lol.

Thank you, that is all.

Ok, so no more gloating for me. For the passed week I've been gloating to everyone that, despite the tree sex, I can breathe! Well...I can still breathe, however, I woke up this morning and the insides of my nose are all caked in blood.

I like chocolate milk

I just had some dumplings, now everything tastes funny...*digs around for some gum*

Anyway...yah...lack of posting, I know. But I kinda doubt that you care that much :P

Everyone's gone home for Easter Break...well, everyone but me that is. I think there's like two people left on my hall, lol. Imani was only gone for like an hour before the "OMG I have nothing to do" delirium began. It resulted in me curling my hair and changing clothes. There was even some toenail paintin' goin on. There are pictures. However, I've already put them on Facebook and I honestly don't feel like posting them anywhere again. You aren't missing much- cept me lookin like a girl.

Umm..hmm...you know, I should work on my story some. Yah, that sounds like a plan *nodnod*

Go ask Alice

So Imani showed me this wiki entry about a novel series called "The Looking Glass Wars" that's the true story of Alice (Alyss) Liddle's trip to Wonderland. Apparently is was no fairy tale and much pain was involved. I've added these novels to my list of things I have to read...but this is the best part:

The novels have a soundtrack.

Yep, a soundtrack.

Some of the music is kind of folk-ish, but so far I really like this song: Looking Glass

Listen to it, it's great. Also, some of the lyrics sound like they were pulled straight from "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane..."Go ask Alice" for instance.

*listens and gets lost for a moment*

*grumble*

Mou...I hate being up early...at least it isn't 6am. So I haven't posted in like...forever and a day, I know. I'm sorry T_T *wonders for a moment who the crap she's talking to seeing as only like four people read this*

So this week has been pretty nice. There was a snow day on Thursday so the whole University was closed. I didn't have class OR work- it was great ^^ Though of course instead of getting ahead of my homework like I did last week, I decided to sit on my butt and finish watching Tactics on YouTube. It was a good series *nodnod* I also read like 250 pages of this totally awesome book For a Few Demons More. It's sooooo good....it has vampires and witches and the like which of course made me happy. The only sad thing is that it was the fifth book in a series, so now I have to find all the other ones XD Normally I wouldn't start a series with the last book, but this one is and "Advance Reader's" edition, (meaning it hasn't gone through the final editing process), that my boss brought back from the ALA conference. I love when she brings us free stuff ^^; I manged to finish the book yesterday, so that's a new record for me- 456 pages in three days, woo!

After all that reading, I watched Nana on YouTube for a while and I am now addicted to the opening song. If someone could get me the soundtrack to that series I'd owe them like...my firstborn child. Maybe I can find it on Gendou's music...

Last night I managed to get some kind of creativeness flowing and wrote two pages for what my friends and I call The Lumpy Dragon Princess story. Yah, it doesn't have a title yet, lol. Maybe I'll type it up for Jacci tonight while I continue to put off doing my Japanese paper....

Aww fudgenugets! I have a Russian Lit. paper due on Monday T_T

<(^_^)>

Wow, I haven't updated in a while. Normally I would just copy and paste from my LJ, but I really just don't feel like it...really, I haven't updated that either XD.

So today is the last day of the first week of the semester. I have no classes today (yay Friday!) but thanks to certain office assistants *glares at Jacci* I have been forced into 8am labor. The upside, though, is that I get off work at noon, so I really only have a half day before I can crash and take a nap. That is, if I don't crash before then...my body isn't meant to be up and functional at 6am.

Aside from that...my classes are pretty neat. Japanese 204 is just the same as 203 really, cept with more focus on writing. I really like my Russian Lit. course so far...it's weird seeing my Russian prof. spend an entire class period speaking English...and this first book OMG. It's a futuristic, anti-utopian, sci-fi novel written in 1920. It's so good....and a reminder to be that there was indeed sci-fi prior to the fifties. I dunno why I keep forgetting. Anyway....I think I'm going to like my Contemporary British authors class too...just because I know and like the prof. My Lit. and Film (which is actually more like Film and Politics) doesn't seem to be nearly as fun or really interesting as the others. However, the professor seems interesting and is pretty funny, so I'll live.

Umm...oh yah, I bought the Firefly series and the core book for the RPG...now I just need a crew XD

Night Watch

I watched Night Watch for the second time today. It made a lot more sense the second time, lol. I know that as a movie based on a book, it really sucks...but I loved it anyway. Also, I've decided that Olga is my favorite character.

Man, Anton's going to be pickin' feathers out of places for days to come...

I need to read the book, like really bad. I also looked up other books by the author on Wikipedia. Apparently he has a Cyberpunk series that I didn't know about before, sometimes called the Labrynth series because of the first book.

I wanna read it too *pouts* Actually, I really just wanna read everything by this guy, but unfortunately, I can only get the Night Watch series for now. But that's cool...at least there will be something prevented me from killing myself with books.
